Abstract
A hexapolar configuration with NdFeB permanent magnets is described which is able to produce a radial confinement of a hot plasma at a frequency close to 25 GHz. Such magnets have high intrinsic coercivity (18 kOe) to resist the demagnetization which could be induced by the longitudinal field needed for such a high plasma frequency. The magnets with their high induction remanence help construct more powerful electron cyclotron resonance multicharged ion sources.
