Abstract
Feedback-multiplier tubes produce electrons with spreads in kinetic energy large compared to kinescope-cathode electrons, leading to greater difficulties in guiding electrons from cathode to anode. The essentially two-dimensional electron optics required for extraction, modulation, focussing, and deflection of electron beams are discussed. Computer-simulated line spots are compared with analytical predictions.
