Abstract :
A liquid-crystal display device using the depolarization phenomenon is described. The device is the same as the usual twisted nematic liquid-crystal cell (TN cell) except that a nematic liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy is used. It gives high contrast and a wide viewing angle.
