Abstract :
Outage probability calculations are presented for the case when the transmission from a wanted base station is received by a mobile in the presence of multiple cochannel interfering signals. Ideal multiple branch selection diversity is employed to mitigate the effects of Rayleigh fading, which all the transmissions are assumed to suffer. The calculations are for an interference limited system where branch selection is made either on the basis of the best signal to interference ratio or, more practically, on the basis of strongest received power
