Abstract :
This paper describes the design and testing of an ultrahigh-convergence electron gun that was developed for a high-power X-band magnicon amplifier. The gun operates at an area compression ratio of 1400:1 to produce a ∼500-kV ∼200-A beam with a diameter of ∼2 mm.
