Abstract
A simple method based on charge simulation technique is used to represent 3-core belted cables. Each conductor is replaced by a line charge placed at a certain eccentricity from the conductor center, and the sheath is replaced by corresponding images of the line charges. The value of eccentricity which resulted in the closest representation of the three-core cable was determined with the aid of a digital computer. The paper also describes an electrolytic tank experiment devised to verify the validity of the charge simulation method. Excellent agreement between computational and experimental results was obtained.
