Abstract :
The concept of industrial policy, as laid down in the Maastrict Treaty, is to provide the necessary framework to keep the Community´s industry competitive. A lot of questions arise out of this, most particularly: What can the European Commission do to help high-tech industries? The author explains the philosophy of the European Commission´s support for high-tech industries (IT and electronics industries).
