Abstract
Based on measurements of the transient voltage across the cavity of a transversely excited N2 laser an equivalent circuit is developed which provides better understanding of the contribution of all individual components to maximum peak power. Consideration of the design criteria established guarantees about one million light pulses with more than 1 MW from simple high-efficiency construction.
