Abstract
A blind maximum likelihood (ML) sequence estimator for unknown linear dispersive channels is described. The estimator assumes a channel model with quantised parameters. A channel trellis and a data trellis are defined to search for the ML channel and data estimates using the Viterbi algorithm (VA). This approach provides a good performance/complexity tradeoff
