Abstract :
A progressive DPCM system with a block truncation coding technique for encoding the prediction error is proposed. A classified progressive DPCM scheme is also proposed to make the progressive DPCM system reduce the bit rate more efficiently under the limited bit rate. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method achieves excellent image quality under 2 bit/pixel and is superior to other proposed methods
