Abstract
Accelerated aging tests conducted on miniature XLPE insulated cable have demonstrated that the oven-drying of steam-cuted XLPE cable insulation at 70°C does not impart any improvement in the initial breakdown voltage or in long-term electrical performance of the insulation over the as-received XLPE samples. Therefore, the oven-drying of steam-cured XLPE cable at 70°C is not considered as an effective method of improving cable quality.
