Abstract :
For the first time, an EDFA noise figure increase caused by amplified signal double Rayleigh scattering in erbium doped fibres has been measured. The results can be explained by a model that takes into account incoherent and coherent mixing of the directly and doubly backscattered fraction of the signal light
