  • Abstract
In Germany, there are two types of schools where a degree in engineering can be acquired: the university of technology and the technical college. The major difference between these two types of schools is the content of the study. While the studies at technical colleges are mainly practice-oriented, studies at universities of technology have a more theoretical content. The prerequisites for the studies, length of the studies, number of students, certificates, professional perspectives, and future trends in the two types of schools are described.<>
