Abstract
The simple multiple-beam theory for the magnetooptical effects of thin film systems which was formerly derived for films with laterally uniform magnetization is extended to modulated structures. The result is an explicit matrix formula which applies to arbitrary two-dimensional magnetic states and to any polarization and direction of the incident light
