Abstract
The influence of the dipolar interaction on surface magnetostriction is presented. The ferromagnetic film is considered as a set of discrete atomic dipoles neatly ordered in the film. This consideration is limited to simple ferromagnets of high symmetry as body centered cubic (BCC) and face centered cubic (FCC) with [001] axis perpendicular to the plane of the film
