Abstract :
A method for the measurement of the easy-axis distribution in the normal plane of longitudinal thin film magnetic recording media is developed. A cosine criterion is chosen to determine the maximum width of the distribution of the normal-plane easy axes of an ensemble of noninteracting single particles from Fourier integrals of the angular dependence of the remanent magnetization
