Abstract :
Second-harmonic generation of dye-laser radiation by means of an intracavity nonlinear element is analyzed. Crystal absorption with its associated thermal-phase mismatching effect and excited-state absorption in the dye are included. Optimum conversion is found to be dependent upon correct choice of crystal length and differs significantly from previous analyses. A rhodamine 6G, ADA combination is analyzed for a range of dye pumping powers, crystal absorptions, and linear losses from the cavity.
