Abstract :
A technique is described for measuring corona pulse charge transfer per cycle as a function of frequency. It is found that, with a parallel-plane gap geometry employed, the corona charge transfer per cycle exhibits a non-linear decrease with frequency. The result implies that in accelerated life tests on insulating materials and systems, the degradation rate in the presence of corona discharges may not necessarily be a lineraly increasing function of the test frequency.
