Abstract :
The interrelationships between transducer performance (as characterized by sensitivity, hysteresis and dynamic range), anisotropy influencing parameters and constructional details are examined. For rings which are mechanically attached to torque carrying shafts via the static frictional forces associated with interference fits, it is found that increasing tightness of fit first increases and then decreases sensitivity while continuously decreasing hysteresis. This also increases the range of measureable torques. Sensitivity is found to be increased by increasing the squareness ratio of the ring material via aging under stress. The effect of ring length on sensitivity appears to be less associated with demagnetizing factor than is indicated by a simple analytical model
