Abstract :
A heating device using a small heater made of temperature sensitive ferrite and gold ring was developed for clinical application of interstitial hyperthermia. The temperature characteristics were evaluated and the influence of irradiation with gold was examined. The device had the characteristics of regulating the temperature accurately and automatically. Gold enhanced the effect of irradiation. This method is useful and safe for interstitial hyperthermia of malignant brain tumors and it can be applied clinically
