Abstract
The dispersion quality of magnetic inks made from cobalt modified iron oxide particles using a wetting binder based on vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer has been investigated using a magnetic probing technique known as DIMAG. The dispersion quality was found to improve with milling time as well as the binder concentration. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, (XPS) analysis of the bare and binder treated particles indicated that some sort of a chemical interaction takes place between the binder and the cobalt ions
