Abstract
The telecomms sector has endured a lengthy depression. The author looks at its future prospects and concludes that manufacturers dependent on the telecomms sector continue to face an uncertain future. In 2002, growth has come down substantially from -4% in the previous survey to -11% now. Western Europe and North America are the main drivers of this revision. 2003 growth has also worsened. A key reason for this reduction is that the new entrant business model for 3G has collapsed before the race even started.
