Abstract
The nonlinearity of a thin-film disk recording system can be described by two parameters for each transition: a transition position shift and the effective reduction of the transition width across track. Experimental data of a dibit response were used to determine the parameters. The model based on the parameters accurately predicts nonlinearity in the channel output to a long input sequence at high recording densities
