Abstract
The authors assess the rehabilitation requirements of power plant and power supplies for the public electricity undertakings of the Maldives Electricity Board in Male, the capital of the Republic of Maldives, and in particular Addu Atoll. The Maldives Electricity Board (MEB) is a Government owned organisation established in 1982. It is the statutory body responsible for public electricity supplies throughout the Republic of Maldives and responsible to the office of the President. The MEB systems operate at a frequency of 50 Hz and the voltages in use are 11 kV, 3.3 kV and 0.4 kV
