Abstract :
With the expansion of demand immediately after the First World War, serious problems arose in the design of dielectric insulation for high-voltage cables. The author describes these problems and highlights many of the efforts made to overcome them. He describes the failure mechanisms of such dielectrics and examines the research which was carried out to determine failure causes
