Abstract :
Calculated hysteresis loops and the angular dependence of coercivity for coherent rotation and incoherent curling and fanning rotations in thin-film magnetic recording media modeled as a single-particle are presented with the effects of demagnetization fields (Hd) taken into account by two methods. The true coercivity is obtained from measurements with a full correction for Hd. The apparent coercivity is obtained when a correction for Hd is made only in the direction of applied external field. However, the apparent coercivity is still useful for investigating the angular dependence of micromagnetization reversal mechanisms
