Abstract :
Remote sensing by satellite is one of the more dramatic technological advances made possible in part by the computer. NASA´s Landsat satellite, one of many remote sensing systems, is currently being used by a number of countries to evaluate their natural resources. Most of the information gathered by the sensors would be lost without computers fast enough to process the enormous quantities of transmitted data.
