Abstract
For pt.I see ibid., p.281, Dec. 1993. This tutorial describes power system relay protection systems employing telecommunications. In this part the authors begin by considering the types of teleprotection systems and the different communication media that can be employed including pilot wires, private data circuits, power line carrier systems, microwave radio links, fibre optic links and wideband. They look at some of the international communication protocols and standard interfacing equipment (between digital signals and communication media) that are available.<>
