Abstract :
The paper presents about metamaterials research and its widespread applications of metamaterials in LH optics. The dispersion effects exemplified in Figure 17 will always be a problem restricting such applications. However, on the other hand, I am fully convinced that the mainstream of metamaterial research is based on sound and consistent foundations, and I highly appreciate hundreds of valuable contributions in that domain that have deepened and broadened our understanding of electromagnetic waves. Moreover, it is visible that metamaterial research has contributed to developments of new domains of practical applications. For example, it can be credited for contribution to development of so-called patterned ground microstrip circuits or for new ideas in analog signal processing described in [9].
