Abstract
A
-switched frequency-doubled Nd-YAG laser was used in recording holograms in LiNbO3 :Fe. The ensuing photorefractive sensitivity is approximately ten times higher than the value reported for CW sources, given the same exposure. An induced absorption, comparable in magnitude with the linear absorption at 647 nm, was observed during hologram recording. This appears to be correlated to the intensity-enhanced photorefractive sensitivity.
