Abstract
If someone had told Antoanna Romaniuk 30 years ago that she´d one day work for a national government, she might have been skeptical. Involved with political dissidents as a student in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Romaniuk actively worked against the governments of Bulgaria and Poland to bring about political change, at one time finding herself stateless. Determined to create a better situation for herself and her family, Romaniuk took her life down a different path and now resides in the Maryland/Washington, D.C., area, working as a systems engineer on contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense.
