Abstract :
This paper considers Dellinger\´s treatment of the radiation from antenna systems, and applies correction factors thereto for the field strength near to the antenna. The term "equivalent height" is suggested and is differentiated from effective height. The expressions are then applied to the case of a tuned receiving antenna to determine the distortion produced in the field of a distant transmitter by re-radiation from the receiving antenna. The calculated results are then compared with the field distortion found by the Bureau of Standards near the Washington Monument, and also with measurements made near a typical antenna. The distorted field is found to have practical application as a means of eliminating interference; in short distance transmission without a local source of power; and in providing a means of measurement of the equivalent height of an antenna system.
