Abstract
The μITRON standard real-time kernel specification for small-scale embedded control systems has been implemented in a large number of microcontrollers and applications. We describe the design principles of the specification and the current state of its implementations and applications. We also introduce the μITRON bus, a low-cost real-time LAN standard for connecting small-scale embedded systems.
