  • Abstract
    For as long as human beings have been using electricity, there have been worries about its safety. There has been growing public concern about possible health effects of electric and magnetic fields produced by electricity generation, transmission and use. This concern is increasingly affecting electricity utilities; engineers cannot afford to ignore it. However, much of the concern is based on misunderstandings. This paper looks first at the various sources of power-frequency fields, then surveys the various effects such fields may have
