Abstract :
Results are presented for the operation of a low coherence interferometric vibrometer using a fibre optic probe. A novel processing interferometer arrangement allows the absolute displacement of a vibrating surface to be reconstructed, and the use of a low coherence light source means unwanted spurious signals can be suppressed. A signal processing scheme to provide real time monitoring of the surface displacement is also possible.
