Abstract
A method for computing the radiation patterns of finite microstrip antennas by combining the mixed potential integral equation (MPIE) technique and the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) is presented. The patch and equivalent polarisation currents in the dielectric are first calculated using the infinite grounded dielectric slab Green function and subsequently the ground plane diffraction is accounted for using GTD.
