Abstract
The research team led by Prof. ZHANG Hongke at Beijing Jiaotong University, China, has created a new future Internet architecture called the Identifier-based Universal Network (IUN) architecture. The IUN is the research result of the national research project “Fundamental Research on the Architecture of Universal Network for Supporting Pervasive Services”, which was supported by the National Basic Research Program (also called the 973 Program) of China, and was launched in May 2007. Because of the greater likelihood that the traditional Internet will fail to meet the needs of future networks which requires high-speed, ubiquity and efficiency, this project adopts a clean-slate approach, and aims to design a novel trustworthy network architecture that not only inherits the merits of the current Internet, but also overcomes its drawbacks.
