Abstract :
The transposed direct form is discarded, in general, for implementation of digital FIR filters. However, it is shown to have the same flexibility as the usual straight direct form in serial processing. It leads to a premultiplication scheme well adapted to processing data sequences in serial binary representations with a single multiplexed multiplier, long shift-registers, and very simple control circuity. All these features are very desirable in large-scale integration (LSI) techniques. Particularly appealing applications to multiplexing and multirate filtering of various kinds are examined.
