Abstract
Lasing on 11 transitions of neutral iron (six of which have not been reported previously) is observed when iron diiodide (FeI2 ) is photodissociated at 193 nm (ArF laser). The lasing wavelengths span the visible spectrum, extending from 466 to 794 nm. Although the maximum laser energy output of
J (all lines) occurs at ∼825 K, stimulated emission is observed for temperatures as low as 720 K.
