Abstract
The authors describe a novel variable time step technique for the transmission line modelling (TLM) method. The proposed method enables simple and efficient modelling of systems with widely spread time constants by allowing the time step to be changed with no loss of accuracy. The correct initial conditions and algorithms are also discussed. The principle of the method is explained and the method verified by numerical examples.
