  • Abstract
Radar target discrimination schemes based on the numerical convolution of radar return with aspect independent discriminant signals synthesized for a finite set of expected targets (data base) has been the object, of growing interest over the past few years. The synthesis of single-mode pulses (S-pulses) using polynomials as subsectional basis functions is proposed. By means of theoretically derived wire-scattering data, subsectional polynomial S-pulses are shown to increase discrimination in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise in comparison to rectangular S-pulses
