Abstract :
This correspondence reviews the interpretation of the coherence function and provides a derivation for bias of coherence estimates due to misalignment. The derived expression is compared with previous results. It is shown that subsequent processing of underwater acoustic signals from a recent experiment corroborates the derived results for coherence estimation bias.
