Abstract
An effective technique on mutual coupling reduction of circularly polarized (CP) patch antennas is presented in this letter. The technique addresses the surface currents of CP patches flowing in opposite directions in order to reduce mutual coupling. Experimental results reinforced with simulations that the proposed technique not only achieves mutual coupling reduction (12 dB) but also gain enhancement (3 dB) at 2.5 GHz, although the elements are placed in near-field region at center spacing of 0.5 wavelengths.
