  • Abstract
    This paper reports a study of tunable laser-pump requirements for stable optically pumped CF4operation. Using an extremely precise method of measurement, the width of the absorption feature associated with lasing was determined. The results demonstrate the feature to be extremely narrow (∼ 15 MHz in our optical configuration) and provide constraints on the tunable pump laser that must be included in the design of an efficient optically pumped laser system.
