Abstract
European governments have adopted recycling as a policy aim. The author describes how their environmental zeal will affect the electronics industry. In particular the author discusses recycling of packaging and end-of-life electronic equipment including materials recovery. The status of recycling in Germany and the UK are discussed. The future prospects for recycling in the electronics industry are also discussed
