Abstract
Understanding the required specifications, skillfully crafting an architecture, and carefully navigating circuit trade-offs are the keys to developing an integrated tuner for mobile TV. This article shows that basic engineering considerations quickly expose limitations in power consumption improvements. By limiting the target power reduction, tuner performance can be optimized to exceed the broadband DVB-H performance requirements. In addition, customer implementation requirements force choices of architecture that create significant engineering challenges and challenges to reducing customer costs.
