Abstract :
Velocity filters are often used in seismic data processing to discriminate against steeply dipping events. Unfortunately, the expected success often does not occur. In an attempt to produce improved velocity filters, this report presents a method of design where the filters meet prespecified criteria for rejection level and frequency range. Even so, spatial aliasing in recorded data is still a severe limiting factor in the usage of velocity filters.
