Abstract :
The second edition of API Standard 541 is a comprehensive specification that addresses the design, testing, and performance of AC induction motors larger than 250 hp. This specification is the result of collaboration between highly sophisticated users, engineering consultants, and manufacturers. The value of the specification, to the user, is to: (a) provide a better quality motor than was previously available as a standard product; (b) significantly reduce the length of the procurement negotiations by including the major user-specified items in the specification; and (c) reduce the cost and delivery time of this type of motor by standardizing most of the specification requirements
