Abstract :
This article summarises the position with regard to National Grid Company´s transmission system and the changes to it to meet the rapidly changing demands of electricity generation and transmission in England and Wales. It then outlines NGC´s principal objectives for developments relating to overhead lines and comments on how these relate to the latest thinking within countries active in CIGRE.<>
