Abstract
A simple rectangular microstrip antenna on slot-type defected ground plane is proposed for reduced cross-polarized (XP) radiation and justified theoretically. This will reduce the XP radiation field compared to a conventional microstrip antenna without affecting its copolarized (CP) radiation characteristics.
